Chelsea moved back to the top of the Women's Super League by cruising past Aston Villa 3-0 at Kingsmeadow. The visitors lost their goalkeeper Anna Leat to a straight red card inside the first four minutes after she handled outside her penalty area, and goals from Aggie Beever-Jones, Maika Hamano, and Kadeisha Buchanan sealed three points for a perfect response to their two recent cup defeats.

Chelsea returned to the top of the Women’s Super League with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow.
The Blues’ task was made infinitely easier inside four minutes when Anna Leat, the visiting goalkeeper, was shown a straight red card for handling outside her penalty area after Sjoeke Nusken’s shot.
Wave after wave of Chelsea pressure culminated in the game’s opener as Aggie Beever-Jones’ curler on 18 minutes beat Sophia Poor, Villa’s 17-year-old backup goalkeeper making her debut.
It was two with seven minutes to half time as Maika Hamano slotted home from a Catarina Macario flick-on from Ashley Lawrence’s delivery.
Macario turned provider once more in the second half as Kadeisha Buchanan powered home a header on 64 minutes to seal the three points that give Emma Hayes the best possible response to Chelsea’s two cup defeats in recent weeks, after The Blues were beaten by Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals last weekend and Arsenal getting the better of them at Molineux in a feisty League Cup final.
Chelsea, therefore, sit atop the WSL once more, level on points with Manchester City but ahead by two goals, while Villa are seventh.
