Mohamed Salah after touchline row with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: 'If I speak today there will be fire'

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah said "if I speak today there will be fire" after a touchline spat with manager Jurgen Klopp at West Ham.

The Egyptian forward was dropped to the bench for the trip to the London Stadium and he was only called up to be subbed on by Klopp with around 10 minutes remaining.

He was part of a triple substitution in response to West Ham's second equaliser in their 2-2 draw on Saturday, with the two dropped points almost certainly costing the side a chance of winning the Premier League in Klopp's final season as manager.

There is also speculation that it will be Salah's last campaign at Anfield before he moves on to the Saudi Pro League, having been the subject of big-money bids in the past.

When Klopp spoke to Salah on the touchline before his introduction, there was an increasingly heated exchange with Klopp before fellow sub Darwin Nunez stepped in to end the disagreement.

Speaking after the match, Klopp would not discuss the matter and said the pair had spoken in the dressing room.

While the manager might have hoped to put the episode to bed, Salah said to the press that, "If I speak today there will be fire," suggesting he was not yet ready to move on, with a statement that will undoubtedly cause the matter to linger on in the coming days.

Liverpool are currently a point behind Manchester City and two behind Arsenal, with the two sides having two and one game in hand on Liverpool, respectively.
