Officials in charge of athletics in Malaysia should take responsibility for the sorry state of the sport in the country and step down, according to outgoing athletics vice president K Yogesvaran.

Yogesvaran is not seeking re-election as Malaysian Amateur Athletic Union vice president on January 29 because he is disappointed at his failure to make an impact.
However, there are others in the organisation who should shoulder part of the blame, he added.
"I am resigning as MAAU vice president because I have not contributed as I have wanted," Yogesvaran was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times newspaper.
"I take responsibility for my part but I have only served one term of two years. What about others who have been there for so many terms? What have they been doing?
"I don't want to accuse anyone but they should know their weaknesses and if they are not contributing and not taking MAAU forward, they should leave."
The report said eight athletes met Sports Minister Shabery Cheek on Monday to discuss some of the problems they are facing. Yogesvaran was most upset by the cancellation of the Malaysian Closed Championships last year.
"That is the first time the Malaysian Closed was not held and I was very sad and hurt," he said.
"As the competition committee chairman, whenever I tried to introduce ideas it was rejected. Rather than work in a closed system, I decided it was best to leave."
