After the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft threw up a French one-two, the second round generated another big story as Bronny James was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers, home to his four-time NBA champion father, LeBron. The 19-year-old guard has been known around the game for a while, but now he will hit the big time following one year playing college basketball.

Bronny James could be set to form the first-ever father-son pairing in the NBA with his father LeBron, after the 19-year-old was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 Draft.
Bronny was the 55th pick in the annual selection process that took place on Thursday in New York.
Having completed his first year of college basketball with the University of Southern California Trojans, Bronny will now don the famous yellow jersey as he prepares to potentially line up alongside his father, one of the greats of the game.
Bronny wrote "Beyond Blessed" on social media, while LeBron posted a series of photos on his Instagram account alongside the caption "LEGACY!!!!!!"
LeBron, a four-time NBA MVP who has been at the Lakers since 2018, has a decision to make about his own future, with the option to become a free agent as soon as next week.
He has previously been non-committal about the topic of retirement, posting on X on May 1:
"I’ve seen, heard a lot of reports about my future. I said it last night and I’ll say it again. I do not know yet as I’m only thinking about spending time with my family & friends!
"When I know after speaking with the fam [family], my counsel as well as my representation about it, then you guys will know."
Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka seemed to hint that the more likely scenario will see LeBron stay at the Crypto.com Arena.
"We know, and have to respect, of course, that LeBron has a decision on his opt-out… but if it worked out that he was on our team next season, NBA history could be made.
"And NBA history should be made in a Lakers uniform."
Speaking about Bronny's playing characteristics prior to the second round of the draft, LeBron's Lakers team-mate Anthony Davis said: "He's very good defensively. He can read the floor very well. I think he's a really good playmaker.
"I think he's going to be fine, man. Obviously it's a lot of pressure on him with his dad being who he is."
In the first round of the 2024 Draft, it was a night to savour for French basketball as Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr were picked first, with Tidjane Salaun the sixth pick.
That followed Victor Wembanyama being the No. 1 pick in 2023.
