The young Irish boxer never really got going as the more accurate Solano pressed the action from the opening bell.
O"Donnell took a standing eight count in the opening round, before Solano stepped up the pace to floor the out-gunned O"Donnell in the second stanza. As O"Donnell rose to his feet, referee Jay Nady took one look at him and waved the fight off after 1.50.
The other British fighter on the Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayeweather undercard saw Manchester lightweight John Murray overcame a slow start to wear down the game Lorenzo Bethea, via a seventh round stoppage.
Bethea pressed the action in the opening two rounds but Murray regained his composure to clearly out-punch the tiring Atlantic City native before he was pulled out by his corner after 0.28 seconds of the seventh round. Bethea was deducted a point in the fifth round.
