Tyson arrested

"He has been charged with DUI (driving under the influence) and booked into the 4th Avenue Jail in Phoenix," a spokesman for the Buckeye Police Department said.

Tyson, 40, will appear in court later in the day.

He was arrested in Scottsdale, ten miles east of Phoenix, at around 1.30am, she added.

Tyson has suffered a traumatic personal life throughout his career, including a time incarcerated for rape, bankruptcy and various assault charges. He retired from boxing on June 11th 2005, halfway through a bout with Kevin McBride, although has been touring with promotional showcase fights and had been expected to feature in a Japanese mixed martial arts exhibition show on New Years Eve, although this must surely be in doubt now.
