LOS BLANCOS ON A ROLL
Carlo Ancelotti’s side come into this clash on a 21-match unbeaten run across all competitions since losing to tonight’s opponents in September, are one point off Girona in La Liga with a game in hand, have recently won the Supercopa de Espana and are into the UEFA Champions League knockout stages after winning all six of their group matches. It’s safe to say it’s going well for Real at the moment. They will be looking to secure their place in the quarter final of the Copa Del Rey and move one step closer to securing their second bit of silverware this season.

SHAKY FORM
Diego Simeone’s side have struggled for consistency recently. In La Liga, they have won just one of their last four and have been leaking more goals than usual, conceding two to Athletic Club, three to Getafe and four to Girona during this run, not to mention the five they conceded in their last match in the Supercopa de Espana to Real Madrid.
Atletico sit in fifth place in La Liga, 11 points leaders Girona and 10 behind their Madrid rivals. Tonight though, is a cup competition and Simeone will be hoping his players can turn it on in front of their home crowd and get a win that could turn their season around. After all, the last team to beat Real Madrid was Atletico, back on the 24th of September 2023 in La Liga.

LAST TIME OUT
You don’t have to look too far for the last time these two sides went head to head, having met just eight days ago in the Supercopa de Espana semi-final.
It was a thoroughly entertaining match that finished 3-3 in normal time before Carlo Ancelotti’s side scored twice in extra time thanks to Joselu and Brahim Diaz to win 5-3. Los Blancos went on to hammer Barcelona 4-1 in the final to get their hands on the first piece of silverware this season and will be hoping they can once again knock out Atletico Madrid and march toward the latter stages of this competition.
