Kylian Mbappe has opened up on how Paris Saint-Germain threatened to stop him playing last season. The striker has just left the French capital after joining Real Madrid on a free transfer. It brings to an end a long-running transfer saga, one that the 25-year-old says led to "certain things and people" making him "unhappy" during his time at the Parc des Princes.

'I was convinced that I wasn't going to play' - Mbappe on final season at PSG

Kylian Mbappe has revealed he was made to feel "unhappy" by "certain people" at Paris Saint-Germain.
The striker has just joined Real Madrid on a free transfer after six years at the Parc des Princes.
And it was the fact that he refused to sign a new contract that led to a high-profile fall-out with chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi last summer.
Speaking while on international duty with France, Mbappe insists his time in the French capital was not all bad - but it was the right time to move on.
"I wasn't unhappy at PSG," he said. "That would be a slap in the face of the people who defended me. I have always been happy.
"Certain things made me unhappy, but a player like me couldn't show that because I am a leader so I tried to be as positive as possible.
"The coach, the players and the employees of the club supported me, and it would be bad form to come and moan and say that I was unhappy. But certain things and people made me unhappy."
Mbappe spent six years with PSG, a period which saw him make 308 appearances and score 256 goals.
He departs the club having lifted the Ligue 1 title on five occasions, alongside four Coupe de France medals.
He also reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2019/20, before losing to Bayern Munich.
A move to Real Madrid has long been mooted, with Los Blancos linked with a big-money transfer for several seasons.
In the end, they got their man for free after his contract in Paris expired.
And upon his departure, Mbappe has paid tribute to manager Luis Enrique, adding that the club "made me understand that I wouldn't play, they told me to my face, they told me violently.
"Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me, I wouldn't have set foot on the pitch again without them.
"Just the fact I was playing was a great source of pride, but it's certain that next year I won't be satisfied with a year like that."
