BORE DRAW SEES DENMARK MOVE ON AND SERBIA GO OUT
A terrible match, at the end of which Serbia were out of the competition and Denmark had taken second place in a Group C no one will care to remember. It is almost fitting that they do so bye dint of having a better disciplinary record than Slovenia, whose assistant coach received a crucial yellow card – and yet they are solid enough such to give Germany, their next opponents, a difficult match.

Though Serbia needed a win to progress, they mustered not a single shot in a devastatingly tedious first half. Denmark, meanwhile, knew they’d progress with a draw but still pursued victory – they were just unable to create anything clear-cut, snatching at the various half-chances that came their way.

The second half was not that much better. Both managers made various changes in an effort to up the pace and quality, and Dusan Tadic certainly made a difference to Serbia, skimming in a series of unpleasant crosses, but his strikers could convert none of them and a total of one injury-tie set=-piece goal in three games is the reason they are going home.

Denmark, though, move on to face the hosts in Dortmund – what an occasion that will be – and if they can find just a little more creative spark, they can at least makes things interacting – or at least more interesting than what we saw this evening.

DENMARK GO THROUGH TO THE LAST 16
They come second in the group, above Slovenia because of one booking achieved by a Slovenian coach. And what a banger awaits the Danes - they meet Germany in Dortmund, while England will face Netherlands or whoever comes third in the Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Ukraine group - all are still involved. Slovenia will play Portugal or the winner of the that Group E I just listed.

TADIC TOSSES IN ANOTHER TREMENDOUS BALL
And no one attacks it! Serbia have been so poor apart from the second half against England. if they go home, they'll have earned it.

SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC, THAT WAS YOUR MOMENT!
Tadic picks a lovely square ball into him, and though he's on the edge, he has a lot of goal at which to aim. But his low curler is completely mishit, and Schmeichel saves easily.

LONG BALL AND MITROVIC WINS THE HEADER
But Andersen does well to hook clear ahead of Mladenovic.

WE'LL HAVE FIVE ADDITIONAL MINUTES
As it stands, England win the group, Denmaark second; Slovenia will have to wait, and Serbia are off hame.

DRAGAN STOJKOVIC MUST NOT LIKE
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. He's barely played him, though his tea struggle to create never mind score.

MORE CHANGES
Serbia try Milinkovic-Savic for Lukic and a minute later Denmark go Poulsen for Eriksen.

MAEHLE DOWN THE RIGHT
And improbably, he digs out a terrific cross to the far post, Dolberg leaping, foot extended like a ninja, to try and finish. But out of nowhere, Zivkovic leaps equally menacingly, arriving just first and hooking behind to prevent an almost certain goal. That is brilliant work and keeps his team in the competition.

SERBIA HAVE LEFT IT LATE
But with Mitrovic, Vlahovic, Jovic and Tadic on the pitch, they've the scope to rip balls into the box and see what happens. I'm not surprised Denmark are trying to man-mark the latter, because he might be the key.

THIS IS LIVENING UP NOW
Serbia going for it. Tadic tosses a ball in for Mitrovic, he can't do much with it, pulled back by Maehle who lets go just in time. Vlahovic then slides to keep the ball in, Tadic goes again, and Mitrovic falls over then barges Christensen chest to chest. He's losing the rag here, which might be entertaining, and is booked.

EXCELLENT FROM VLAHOVIC
Who chases down Maehle, looking to see the ball into touch, robbing him on the by-line and laying back for Mitrovic, who tries to curl one ... and doesn't, the shot refusing him draw and scooshing wide. That wasn't easy - he wasn't far from the side edge of the box - but it was the best sight of goal he's had tonight, by far.

NOT RELATED TO OUR GAME
But made me smile.

LOOKS LIKE DELANEY
Is getting "in and around" Tadic, who looks the likeliest to make something happen. Meantime Mitrovic is down having barged Andersen - he asked for that, and it looks more like he's trying to get VAR involved than that he's really hurt. He takes treatment and leaves the pitch, but he'll be back on in a jiffy.

TWO MORE CHANGES FOR DENMARK
Kristiansen and Delaney, no longer ill, for Hjulmand and Bah.

IF THIS WAS A KNOCKOUT GAME
You can be sure someone would score a 119th-minute winner to deprive those of us who'd sat through it of penalties. Luckily, it isn't.

ANOTHER CHANGE FOR SERBIA
Mladenovic replaces Mijailovic. He'll go to the left side, with Zivkovic moving to the right.

MAEHLE HAS BEEN ALRIGHT TONIGHT
And he tosses another alright ball into the box. But Milenkovic eases Dolberg out of it, and the penalty appeals are given the exact shrift they deserve.
