    GERMANY BOOK QUARTER-FINAL SPOT
Host nation Germany progressed into the Euro 2024 quarter-final thanks to a second half Kai Havertz penalty, which was followed by a Jamal Musiala second goal.
However, Denmark will feel aggrieved of their exit after Joachim Andersen thought he had given his country a 48th minute lead, only for VAR to rule it out for off-side.
Just two minutes after seeing his goal ruled out Andersen was then judged by VAR to have handled a cross into the box and Havertz dispatched the spot kick.
Rasmus Hojlund had several good chances in both halves and was denied an equaliser after capitalising on a defensive error but firing at goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Germany sealed their quarter-final spot as Nico Schlotterbeck sent a floated ball into the path of Musiala who fired home.
The home nation could have added to the score-line late on, but were met by a determined Kasper Schmeichel performance.
Germany will now face either Spain or Georgia in the quarter-final.

DENMARK LEFT TO REFLECT ON CHANCES
For all their forward play Germany have been vulnerable at the back tonight. Andersen was unlucky to see his goal disallowed and Hojlund could have scored a hat-trick on another night.

    FULLKRUG FLAGGED OFF-SIDE
Substitute Fullkrug just failed to beat the off-side trap. However, Schmeichel was out quickly and would have denied him regardless.

It’s a Denmark corner and some pushing inside the box results in a delay. The Danish know they need a goal very soon otherwise they are going home.
