FULLKRUG SAVES GERMANY AT THE DEATH
A terrific injury-time header from Niclas Fullkrug at the end of another terrific match salvaged a draw for Germany, who now go through as Group A winners. Switzerland, who had taken the lead in the first half and were excellent throughout, qualify for the last 16 in second place.

Germany began fairly well, dominating possession, but Switzerland defended with discipline and conviction, shutting down spaces and winning challenges. On 17 minutes, Robert Andrich thought he’d put the hosts ahead with his first international goal, Yann Sommer diving under his shot, but the ref, encouraged by VAR, rightly disallowed the goal for a foul by Jamal Musiala on Michel Aebischer.

Then, on 28 minutes, Switzerland took the lead, Fabian Rieder winning the ball and driving forward before Remo Freuler’s excellent cross was volleyed home by Dan Ndoye.

Germany did not improve much after half-time, Switzerland as likely to score a clincher as they were an equaliser. But with seconds remaining, one sub, David Raum, crossed for another, Fullkrug, whose touch, strength and composure under pressure redeemed a nevertheless concerning night for the hosts.

ANOTHER TERRIFIC MATCH
And another banger of a finish. Germany win Group A, just, and have thinking to do; Switzerland are second and through with them.

SWITZERLAND WIN A FREE-KICK 30 YARDS OUT
Well right. This might be the final, er, play of the match ... and it's a poor effort from Xhaka, easily cleasre.d Germany are going to win Group A, Switzerland coming second.

AHAHAHAHA GOAL!! Switzerland 1-1 Germany (Fullkrug) Germany work the ball from right to left and Raum swings over a delectable cross, Fullkrug leaping backward and almost backing away from his header in order to cushion an assassin's finish into the far side-netting! Brilliant goal, and Switzerland will be feeling very, very poorly. Football is a brutal, beautiful business.

WE'LL HAVE FOUR ADDITIONAL MINUTES
As it stands, Switzerland will win a famous victory and with it Group A.

GERMANY HAVE RUN OUT OF IDEAS
They don't have the wealth of attacking options that, say, England do, and Switzerland have actually shut this down pretty easily.

I FEEL LIKE I'VE NOT MENTIONED XHAKA MUCH
But he's been excellent, organising his team and making lots of important little contributions. And here he is now, arriving on the edge of the box to receive a cut-back ... and punching a curler that Neuer has to fly across his goal to shove away! Switzerland look more likely to score a clincher than Germany do an equaliser!

THIS IS THE BEST PERFORMANCE I'VE SEEN
Since the Atalanta beat Leverkusen in the Europa League final.

THE SWISS ARE GOING MAD
This could be a colossal win for them - and let's not forget they also beat France at the last Euros.

GERMANY GO STRAIGHT DOWN THE OTHER END AND WIN A CORNER
Kroos with it and Havertz is up ... but he can only shoulder a looper against the back of the bar! That was a chance.

OH MY DAYS!
Duah backheels and Amdouni slides Vargas in. He clips an expert's finish over Neuer, finishing the match ... and up goes the flag. He'll regret not timing his run just a fraction better.

KAI HAVERTZ HAS MANY ASSETS
But he's not a centre-forward, and Germany miss that presence up front. They win another corner, Gundogan shanks a shot wide fro 25 yards.

THE KICK IS A GOODUN TOO, CURLING IN SHARPLY
Sommer doing well to keep an eye on it and fist away.

BEIER WRIGGLES BETWEEN TWO DEFENDERS
One of whom, widmer, pulls him back. he's booked and Germany have a free-kick down the left, Kroos over it.

BIT OF POSSESSION FOR SWITZERLAND
They don't do anything with it, but they've stopped Germany building any momentum and passages like that are a bit part of the reason why.

VARGAS' KICK IS HEADED AWAY
Can Germany put anything together?

HERE COME FULLKRUG AND SANE
On for Musiala and Wirtz. Switzerland have a free-kick 25 yards out, left of centre.
