MUSIALA CONTROLS BEAUTIFULLY AND TURNS
Gliding down the right before feeding Gundogan, breaking into the box as expected. But he doesn't have the pace to escape the defender on either side, who sandwich him at cost of corner.

THE FRANKFURT PITCH
Was very poor for the England v Denmark game, but it looks a little better tonight.

ON BBC
They're rhapsodising Gundogan, who is indeed a sensational player. His awareness and composure are beyond almost everyone else playing the game at the moment, and perhaps more than anything else, he has timing.

PERMUTATIONS
Germany are through and will win the group with a point; Switzerland need a point to finish above Scotland, but even a defeat will probably be enough given a +2 goal difference versus a -4 goal difference. If Switzerland lose and Scotland win, the Swiss will probably qualify for the last 16 as a best third-placed side, but they'll have to wait and see.

AS FOR GERMANY
They'll be looking to dominate in midfield, where they've an extra man, and get down the sides of the Switzerland back three. Wirtz and Musiala will look to run at the outside centre-backs, I think, while Gundogan will target the box - he's so good at finding space and such a good finisher.
19:42
WHERE IS THE GAME?
Switzerland will, I imagine, be looking to defend high and counter-press. The pace of Akanji allows them to play offside, while he and Xhaka, good passers both, will be looking to get attacks going. Embolo, meantime, will be targeting the channels and space in behind the Germany defence.

GERMANY, MEANWHILE
Are grooved. I thought Kroos and Musiala might be rested to preserve them for bigger battles to come, but Nagelsmann must recognise that Switzerland are a live dog, and he won't want to come second in the group.
19:31
SO WHY?
My guess is that Yakin wants Embolo's pace and edge up front. Switzerland won't have that much of the ball, so they need to make the most of it when they do, and this match will - for them - require mobility more than Shaqiri's ability to invent something out of nothing. Similarly, Rieder has, I imagine, been selected for his mobility.

FOR THE SECOND GAME IN A ROW
Germany are unchanged.
19:27
SWITZERLAND
Murat Yakin makes two changes to the side which drew with Scotland: Xherdan Shaqiri and Ruben Vargas drop the bench, with Breel Embolo and Fabian Rieder replacing them.
