Townsend tries a shot that we shall file under 'speculative', volleying from range but straight to the keeper.

And they're off again. Dnipro have an early chance from a corner, but Dawson gets there to head clear just ahead of Mazuch.

And that's the break. Both teams have had some great chances, but both have defended rather shakily and both could really have had men sent off too. A relatively chaotic half - we'll see what happens in the second 45 minutes.

Rose very, very lucky to get away with a fairly blatant looking push as Zozulya breaks through on goal down the middle, but the referee gives nothing. Rose could've been off then.

Townsend breaks in from the right, but breaks straight into Strinic. Another blind alley travelled down by Townsend.

Paulinho attempts to thread a pass through for Soldado, but it's too strong and goes out for a goal kick.

Townsend is dispossessed in midfield, and the ball eventually breaks to Rotan, but he was leaning back and his shot goes way over the bar.

Boy, Boyko is a lucky young man. The Dnipro keeper tries to dribble out of his own box, but turns straight into Soldado who tackles him, but can't quite bring the ball under control and Boyko eventually scrambles back and dives on it. Lucky young man.

Strinic is penalised for a high foot on Naughton, despite the Dnipro man kicking the Spurs defender's boot, suggesting that their feet were equally high.

Naughton looks for a dinked ball down the line for Townsend, but it's far too strong and in front of the England winger.

Dnipro try to get back in the game with a long ball from a free kick into the box, but Rotan's eventual effort is hoyed high over the bar.

Townsend gets some fair pace and dip on the shot, but it wizzes just wide of the post.

Fairly lengthy delay as the Spurs players protest, but Townsend is now lining up the free kick.

Controversial moment there. Soldado plays Paulinho through, and Strinic takes the Brazilian down right on the edge of the area. A free kick is given, but quite how that wasn't a goal-scoring opportunity isn't clear. Strinic lucky to still be on the pitch.

Important update to bring you - Matheus seems to be wearing one black boot and one white. Maybe that's what's confusing Vertonghen.

Rose tries a hugely ambitious shot that might have actually turned into a decent pass to Bentaleb in the area, but it deflects off Mazuch and Boyko scrambles across his goal to gather it.

Spurs are looking troublingly poor at the back so far. Vertonghen in particular has proved worringly easy to beat. He'll have to tighten up pretty sharpish.

Indeed, the referee gives Matheus a warning about the rather elaborate way he went down. Lucky not to be booked, perhaps.

Matheus causes more problems with a direct run into the box, eluding Vertonghen but goes down vaguely near Capoue, and the referee gives nothing.

Spurs hit back as Rose runs down the left and cuts back into the area, where Chadli is waiting but his half-volleyed shot goes wide.

Good spell this from Dnipro, but their finishing hasn't been particularly good. It's been terrible, actually.
