What is the story?

Stories began to gain traction on social media on Wednesday that the good people of FIFA had accidentally published the winners of the 2015 Ballon d’Or on their website.
The ceremony for this year’s event takes place on January 11 but screenshots of the ‘result’ seemed to confirm the world governing body's error.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Nadine Kessler are the current holders of the awards, but Messi is a four-time winner; Sasic retired from football in 2015 at the age of 27.

Voting has closed AND there was a screenshot – irrefutable evidence!

Correct on both counts there. Voting has closed – and the result is thus known – and there was a screenshot of the offending error.
Alas, one crucial issue with the screenshot: it was not from the FIFA website.

What?

Yup.

No way!

Way.

Evidence, please?

The kind people of FIFA took to social media to refute the claims.

Of course they would say that...

Well yes, they would, as it was gibberish.
The website - European Sports Media - who published the offending announcement posted an explanation, as below.
