Chelsea 'agree to sign Juan Cuadrado, sell Andre Schuerrle'

The Sun reports that Fiorentina have agreed to sell Colombian star Juan Cuadrado to the Stamford Bridge club for £25 million, just short of his £26.1m buy-out clause.

And at the same time, the Daily Mail reports that Mourinho has decided he will sell German World Cup winner Andre Schuerrle before the window closes on Monday night.

The Sun reports that on the Cuadrado story that, "Chelsea and Fiorentina have reached an agreement over Cuadrado," calling it, "a major statement of intent by the Blues as they chase glory on three fronts."

Meanwhile the Mail reports that Chelsea "have agreed to cash in on Andre Schuerrle to free up the funds to sign Juan Cuadrado," with Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund said to be tussling for his services.

"Mourinho is not a fan of the Germany international, but recognises his value in the transfer market. The World Cup-winning attacker is also keen to return home," the paper reports.

Just when we were starting to think that the transfer window would go by without any major moves, two of the big rumours have finally sublimated into something real - or so it seems, at least. With three different leagues, clubs, and countries involved, and a correspondingly vast array of agents and lawyers, there is much that can yet go wrong - not least because FFP regulations mean that Chelsea probably can't afford to pen the Cuadrado deal until they have certainty on who will cough up for Schuerrle.
