Naughton wins the ball off Gardner on the edge of the Sunderland, but the midfielder in combination with O'Shea manages to restrict his chances of shooting or crossing, and end up with a goal kick.

Sunderland want a handball against Dembele, but the referee had a clear view and reckoned he got it fairly. Another Spurs move starts, culminating in a blocked shot from Sandro.

Sunderland have barely been out of their own half for the last 10-15 minutes. But they have survived.

Walker tries a shot from all of 30 yards. You'll not be seeing that one on the highlight reels.

Stinking miss from Adebayor - but equally shoddy defensive work from Cuellar to allow it. He looks all over the place since his injury.

ADEBAYOR HITS THE BAR! HOW DID HE MISS? A mistake from Cuellar dealing with a cross-come-shot from Defoe - Adebayor has a chance to stick it in from just a couple of yards out, and lifts it on to the woodwork. Would surely have been easier to score.

BALE! The winger goes close after Lennon's jinking run and stood-up cross. He has to put the power on his header, and ends up looping it just a little high and wide.

Adebayor appeals for a handball against Larsson - given that it deflected off the Togo striker's boot into Larsson's hands not more than a metre or two away, that is not given.

McLean grinds out a clearance on the left, straight down the touchline, but still Spurs keep coming.

These are better moments from Spurs - they're starting to turn their possession into chances. Cuellar now has to nod out a cross for a corner.

ADEBAYOR! Lovely ball from Lennon, splits the defence and Adebayor sneaks in. Sunderland have the quick reactions of Mignolet for saving them - he came out quick and smothered the shot from close range.

More like it from Lennon - a zippy, low cross that is blocked out by Kilgallon. Walker stands over it.

Just as a bit of space began to open up for Spurs, Lennon overhits a pass for Adebayor down the right. Spurs regroup, however.

Cuellar will continue. Sunderland get the ball out of their own half as we reach the midway stage in the first half.

Cuellar has gone down in a heap in that move. Sunderland a bit light on defensive options at present - they'll hope it's nothing serious. Looks like Colback fell on him as Sunderland scrambled.
