Bale almost makes it three goals from three games, as Defoe robs a heavy-touched Steven Gerrard then puts in the Wales midfielder down the left. However, his shot flashes just wide.

Joe Allen fouls Dempsey 35 yards out and Bale hits the free-kick. Pepe Reina saves it, and Glen Johnson clears the ball under pressure from Defoe.

Dembele comes through midfield, and after an exchange of passes between Aaron Lennon and Clint Dempsey, Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel clears for a throw.

It is a very zippy surface at White Hart Lane, and with plenty of wide players on show there should be chances.

Liverpool defenders will need to be wary of Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, whose goals per game rate of 0.54 in the league so far in 2012/13 is his best-ever rate in a Premier League campaign.

Spurs have scored a 90th minute goal in three of their last four Premier League games at home against Liverpool.

Carragher can be reassured that it is not just him. Only Everton v Manchester United (7) has seen more own goals than the Liverpool v Tottenham (6) fixture in Premier League history.

In fact, only Robbie Keane (5) and Teddy Sheringham (4) have scored more goals for Tottenham against Liverpool in Premier League history than Carragher (3 own goals)!

Jamie Carragher has scored as many Premier League goals for Tottenham as he has for Liverpool (3).

Some more match facts: Tottenham have won the last five home games against Liverpool in all competitions, and The Reds have failed to score in their last three matches against Spurs.

Hugo Lloris is in the Tottenham goal for the fourth consecutive game, with Brad Friedel having again to settle for a place on the bench.

In defence, Andre Villas-Boas' second change from the starting eleven that beat West Ham 3-1 at White Hart Lane on Sunday is to bring in the experienced William Gallas for Steven Caulker.

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele starts his first game in over a month after a hip problem, replacing Tom Huddlestone, and Sandro is fit despite being carried off on a stretcher with a stomach injury against West Ham at the weekend.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers keeps with the same side that drew 0-0 with Swansea on Sunday, so Stewart Downing stays at left-back with fit-again Andre Wisdom on the bench.

Liverpool's last win at Tottenham was a 2-0 victory in the 2007-08 season, when Rafa Benitez was manager.

The Liverpool Twitter site warns us to expect goals at White Hart Lane tonight. "109 goals have been scored in the 40 PL games between #LFC & #Spurs - more than any Reds fixture bar Newcastle."

Liverpool are on an eight-match unbeaten run going into this game, having won three and drawn five since the 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United on 23 September.

Tottenham have won three of their last four matches against Liverpool, including a 4-0 win last season in the corresponding game. Liverpool had both Martin Skrtel and Charlie Adam sent off, and played the last 22 minutes with nine men.
