Mark Hughes has enjoyed just two wins in 14 Premier League games as a coach against Tottenham (W2 D5 L7), but one of those wins was his only outing as QPR’s manager against Spurs back in April this year.

QPR have the first corner of the game. Hill guides his header towards the far top corner but Brad Friedel makes a great save! That's why he has kept his place in the team despite the summer arrival of France No.1 Hugo Lloris.

QPR substitution: Kieron Dyer replaces Jose Bosingwa.

Park Ji-Sung is stopped in his tracks by Sandro on the edge of the Spurs box and the home side can break. Aaron Lennon zips up the pitch and cuts the ball back for Jermain Defoe. The ball breaks free and Gylfi Sigurdsson goes to shoot but hits the deck! He wants a penalty of Clint Hill, but referee Phil Dowd is rightly not convinced.

Mark Hughes: “I’ve got a huge regard for Mousa (Dembele). He’s an outstanding player and now he’s at a club which - no disrespect to Fulham – has a higher profile, he’s getting a lot more attention. I always knew that when he came to the Premier League he would make an immediate impact. He’s technically very accomplished; he is able to play a number of positions. That’s the quality of the player we are talking about. I knew almost immediately when he went to Tottenham he would be a success."

Andre Villas-Boas: “We have to be very careful because QPR’s position doesn’t reflect the team they can be, where they can finish. They made tremendous changes in the summer window and brought big players from throughout the world, former European champions who can bring something to the Premier League. I expect a difficult game and hopefully we can repay our fans with a first home win.”

Spurs then name a strong side after their Europa League exertions on Thursday - and Lloris returns to the bench after his debut against Lazio. Only three out-and-out defenders in that line-up, so it could well be that Bale returns to left-back. Plenty of attacking firepower from AVB - that's for certain. QPR welcome back Diakite to the bench after all after his personal problems.

TEAM NEWS: QPR have a number of injury worries to contend with. The West Londoners’ defence will be without Anton Ferdinand, Fabio (both hamstring), Stephane Mbia (groin) and Armand Traore (leg) for the White Hart Lane clash. Adel Taarabt is a doubt after picking up a hamstring injury in training, while Samba Diakite (personal reasons) and Andrew Johnson (anterior cruciate ligament) are unavailable.

TEAM NEWS: Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has to decide whether to recall Brad Friedel or stick with Hugo Lloris in goal for the game at QPR. Spurs will test striker Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) over the next 48 hours to see if he can play any part in the game while Villas-Boas expects Kyle Naughton to be fit despite the defender injuring his right foot against Lazio. Scott Parker (Achilles), Heurelho Gomes (ankle), Jake Livermore (groin), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee).

Spurs got their first victory this season with a 3-1 triumph away at Reading this time a week ago. They sit 10th, while QPR, still winless after four games, remain mired in the relegation zone.
