Good evening and welcome to LIVE text coverage of the Barclays Premier League clash between Liverpool and Aston Villa at Anfield. The hosts will be hoping to build upon a solid start to the new campaign after winning two of their opening three fixtures. A superb 3-0 success at Tottenham prior to the international break has set the standard for Brendan Rodgers' men after they followed up a sluggish 2-1 opening day triumph over Southampton with a 3-1 defeat at champions Manchester City. Meanwhile, Aston Villa have surprised their critics thus far with wins over Hull and Stoke while a draw with Newcastle ensures they remain unbeaten in the league heading into tonight's match in L4. Villa could be down to 10 men as Senderos kicks out at Balotelli. The Italian goes down but the referee didn't see the off-the-ball incident. Strange from the Swiss, very strange!

Agbonlahor rampages free down the left as the away side threaten on the counter attack. Liverpool just about manage to hold him up and concede a throw-in. Alarm bells ringing once more for LFC against the Villans in L4.

Liverpool have barely featured as an attacking force which perhaps illustrates just how well Villa have done in the opening exchanges.

Mignolet and Lovren get in each other's way trying to clear the corner and it falls for Weimann who doesn't quite connect fully with his volley allowing Gerrard to head away. Liverpool all over the place at set pieces.

It should be two! Westwood floats the free kick into the box for a completely unmarked Senderos who somehow heads over the top with the goal gaping. A glorious opening wasted.

Lallana booked on his LFC bow as he clatters into Cleverley. Good decision by the referee.

Sakho rises to nod at goal but it gets blocked and bounces easily for Guzan.

Liverpool look to hit back immediately. Gerrard curves a lovely ball towards Markovic on the right of the area and Villa are forced to concede the corner.

GOAL! The visitors lead! It's a scrappy goal, but they won't care. Senderos sees his stooping header from a corner hit a red shirt and fall for Agbonlahor who manages to stab the ball into the net from close range. Poor defending by Lovren and then Sakho from Liverpool's point of view.

Agbonlahor seizes upon a mistake by Sakho and earns another corner after twisting and turning on the right of the area.

STAT: Balotelli has scored four times in two clashes with the Villans, scoring his only Premier League hat-trick against them in December 2010.

LIVERPOOL CHANCE! Manquillo clips a ball into the area towards Balotelli but Markovic got there first and miscued his header wide. The Italian was probably in a better position to score.

Another decent delivery is met by Lovren. Villa maintain the pressure, however, until Richardson's looping cross is gathered by Mignolet.

Villa win a free kick on the right and Lovren is forced to head behind the resulting delivery for a corner.

Danger signs for both defences... First Hutton's low cross from the right is diverted away at the near post, while at the other end Moreno's deep cross is volleyed way over the top by Markovic.
