Cech drew level with David James on 169 clean sheets, though he has achieved the mark in far fewer games - 337 to James's 567.
It was a relatively quiet day at the office for the 33-year-old as Villa mustered just two shots on target. His first chance to break the record comes on 21 December when Arsenal host Manchester City in a top-of-the-table clash.
Manager Arsene Wenger said after the match:
No one questions Cech. He is an absolute all-time great, the record speaks for him.
Cech spent 11 seasons at Chelsea after joining in 2004, before crossing London to sign for Arsenal in the summer.
