The negative headlines keep on coming for Frank Lampard and Chelsea, after the interim boss lost his sixth consecutive game with a meek 3-1 defeat to Premier League title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates. The Blues' all-time top goalscorer gave an honest assessment of the situation at Stamford Bridge, while Jamie Carragher delivered his scathing verdict to Sky Sports.

'We were nice to play against' - Lampard reacts after loss against Arsenal

Frank Lampard gave an honest assessment of the scale of the task to propel Chelsea out of the doldrums after his side were outclassed in a 3-1 Premier League defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday.
The Blues were 3-0 down after 34 minutes as the Gunners raced in a commanding lead before Noni Madueke added some respectability to the scoreline after half-time.
The interim Chelsea boss admits it will take time to turn the club’s fortunes around, but refuted any suggestions that the players do not care.
"We can't change things overnight, but we better get there quickly," Lampard told Sky Sports.
"All the things to make you a nice team to play against, we did - and a good team can go 3-0 up against you.
"I understand if fans think the players are not caring but I don't believe that.
"The lads want to do well for this club but they have to understand what that means, every day, and those standards are clear."
There are plenty of damning statistics concerning Chelsea's plight this season, which includes just four wins from 23 matches played in 2023.
Despite spending in excess of £600 million on player recruitment, the West London club are only nine points clear of the bottom three and an astonishing 39 points behind table-topping Arsenal.
Lampard has also lost all six of his matches as interim boss and Madueke’s goal was only Chelsea’s second in their last eight games.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher gave his take about the farcical state of affairs at Stamford Bridge, and did not mince his words in assessing the state of play to Sky Sports.
"This club is an absolute mess at the moment," he added. "It is embarrassing for Chelsea - it's like five-a-side football.
"To lose six games on the bounce is not acceptable for players of this quality.
"Think of how successful Chelsea have been. They have won 19 trophies since Arsenal last won the title. To see how far they have fallen in the last 12 months is astonishing. It's not acceptable."
Up next for Lampard’s men is a match away at Bournemouth on Saturday, and the Cherries will leapfrog Chelsea with a victory.
A home match against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest follows on May 13 ahead of a daunting final three games, away at Manchester City and Manchester United respectively, before welcoming Newcastle United to Stamford Bridge on the final day of the season.
