Callum Wilson is set to continue his quest to become one of Newcastle's all-time leading goalscorers after signing a one-year contract extension with the club. The English striker has extended his stay at St James' Park until 2025, having scored 40 goals in 79 Premier League appearances for the Magpies. Manager Eddie Howe said he is "delighted" that Wilson has chosen to stay at the club.

Walker 'absolutely delighted' to extend Manchester City contract to 2026

Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the club until 2025.
The 31-year-old has been a reliable source of goals at St James’ Park in recent seasons, having scored 40 times in 79 Premier League appearances since joining Newcastle from Bournemouth in September 2020.
Wilson scored 18 goals last season as Eddie Howe’s side secured a top-four finish and a place in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The England international is currently Newcastle’s fifth all-time Premier League top goalscorer, just one strike behind club legend Les Ferdinand. Eight more goals will see him move into second place in the list behind Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer.
Wilson has already scored twice in four league matches this campaign, and says he is now looking forward to an exciting period for the club.
“I'm delighted to extend my time here,” Wilson said in a club statement.
“It's a fantastic football club, I've been welcomed ever since I came through the door and now the club's going in a fantastic direction and on a journey so it's nice to commit my future to be to being a part of that.
“We've got some great things to look forward to and I think being around here, the city, fan base, is what players dream of so I can't wait to be around for the next few years.
“When I first joined the club, I had ambitions to come back to the Premier League having been relegated with Bournemouth and over the first few interviews I mentioned Europe and I mentioned getting to 100 Premier League goals.
“They were ambitions of mine and they still are. I'm close to get into the '100 Club' and also becoming the second all-time Premier League scorer for Newcastle would be an amazing achievement, having looked up to Shearer for many years.
“There are so many fantastic names that have been before me at Newcastle - goalscorers who have worn the number nine - and it'd be nice to join them in the record books during my time here.”
Newcastle boss Howe, who worked with Wilson at Bournemouth, said Newcastle are “very pleased” that Wilson has extended his stay on Tyneside.
“Callum has been an integral part of our success. He's an outstanding person, an outstanding footballer and I'm delighted he's going to be with us for longer,” Howe said.
“He's an incredibly motivated person and I've never seen Callum not motivated to score goals. I think that's a great thing for a striker.
“He's always there in training and in games, wanting to score goals, and I'm sure that'll be driving him on to achieve more and more with Newcastle United at a very exciting time for the club.”
Following the international break, Newcastle and Wilson will return to action on Saturday when they welcome Brentford to St James’ Park (17:30 BST).
The Magpies will make their long-awaited return to the Champions League on Tuesday (17:45 BST) when they travel to the San Siro to face AC Milan, with the match broadcast live on TNT Sports.
