MATCH REPORT
Crystal Palace began life without Roy Hodgson with a 1-1 draw at Everton after substitute Amadou Onana grabbed a late equaliser for the hosts.
Ray Lewington and Paddy McCarthy took charge of matters for Palace at Goodison Park, with Oliver Glasner watching on from the stands after his appointment was confirmed earlier in the day.
The Austrian will have been pleased with what he witnessed as Palace came agonisingly close to returning to winning ways after Jordan Ayew’s stunner midway through the second half gave them the lead.
The goal lit up a largely forgettable game with few chances of note, but the Toffees hit back with six minutes of normal time remaining through Onana’s header.
Sean Dyche may believe his side had done enough to win the game and will look back on two gilt-edged opportunities passed up by the misfiring Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The result takes Everton out of the bottom three above Luton Town on goal difference, while Palace climb to 15th, five points clear of the drop.
