Blasi loaned to Fiorentina

Fiorentina have signed midfielder Manuele Blasi on a one-year loan deal from Juventus, the Florence club said on their website on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old midfielder, a hard-running, combative player who has made eight appearances for the Italy but was not selected for the World Cup squad, will bolster a midfield that already includes Stefano Fiore and Danish international Martin Jorgensen.

Blasi has also played in Italy's top-flight for AS Roma, Perugia and Parma but has never scored a Serie A goal.

At Parma during the 2003/04 season he served a five-month ban after testing positive for nandrolone.

Fiorentina finished fourth in last season's Serie A championship. Their place in next season's Champions League is dependent on the outcome of a sports tribunal into allegations of match-fixing, which is expected to deliver its verdict between July 7 and 9.
