Inter Milan vs Empoli live - Inter can leapfrog AC Milan into second in Serie A with a victory this evening

Inter Milan missed out on the chance to move into second in the Serie A table after a 1-0 defeat to Empoli at the San Siro.

Inter went down to ten men in the first half when Milan Skriniar was shown two yellow cards, but Simone Inzaghi’s side still produced a lacklustre display as the visitors went on to snatch the victory thanks to driven strike in the second half from substitute Tommaso Baldanzi.

The result means Inter remain in third and one point off second-placed AC Milan. For Empoli, they move up three places into ninth after their first competitive win over Inter since 2006.

Dzeko gets the ball at the far post, but his shot goes well over. Another poor shot from an Inter player this evening.

Calhanoglu chests the ball into his path from a free-kick, but his volley flies over the bar.

Caputo comes off for Walukiewicz.

Parezi goes down after being tripped up by Dzeko and he is shown a yellow card.

Calhanoglu will swing it into the box. It comes out to Gosens at the far post but he fires his shot high and wide!

Inter have three strikers on the pitch now which is forcing them to go long, but even then they are hesitating to play direct. The home fans are roaring them on.

De Vrij rises highest to meet a header from a corner but it crashes off the bar!

Lukaku will partner Dzeko up front. He comes on for Mkhitaryran. The Inter fans approve of that change.

Calhanoglu's cross to the far post is volley on goal by Dzeko, but he cannot get the technique right and his shot flies harmlessly wide.

Bajrami and Henderson come off for Satriano and Fazzini.

Long overdue. Gosens, Asllani and Dzeko come on for Dimarco, Darmian and Barella.

Barella will miss Inter's next match after he is booked for a late tackle on Parisi.

It's fully deserved for Empoli and it is Baldanzi who gets it seconds after coming off the bench! Bajrami lays it off to the forward and he drives his strike underneath Onana into the net!

Calhanoglu slides into Parisi and it's a late challenge from the Turkish midfielder. He escapes a booking, though, much to the dismay of the Empoli players.

There's a sub for Empoli as Baldanzi comes on for Cambiaghi.

Empoli counter and it's three against two. Bajrami has a shot which he drills towards the near post, but Onana gets his body behind it!

Dimarco is brought down by Cambiaghi and Inter can regain possession. Inter boss Inzaghi may look to makes some changes soon to try and get more of his men forward.

Again it's a sluggish start from Inter and Empoli will fancy their chances of snatching a win this evening. They are the ones putting the pressure on at the moment.
