Dominic Calvert-Lewin is facing up to the prospect of a three-match suspension after picking up a red card in Everton's draw with Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. It was a controversial red card as referee Chris Kavanagh gave nothing in real time but elected to pull out a red card after being advised to go to the pitchside monitor by VAR. Everton boss Sean Dyche called for consistency.

Sean Dyche has called for consistency in decision making in light of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s red card in Everton’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.
Calvert-Lewin was shown a straight red card after the Video Assistant Referee advised referee Chris Kavanagh to check the pitchside monitor.
The forward appeared to make minimal contact with Nathaniel Clyne in sliding and winning the ball - albeit his studs were in the air.
Kavanagh saw nothing wrong in real time, but went to the monitor and brandished a red card - much to the amazement of the player and his manager.
Calvert-Lewin is set to miss three games unless Everton are successful in any appeal, with manager Dyche unhappy about the decision to send Kavanagh to the monitor and show him the incident from a range of angles in slow motion.
He cited a challenge in the area on Beto by Palace defender Joachim Andersen that was not reviewed, and called for better consistency.
“Slow-mo shows a different picture,” Dyche told ITV Sport.
“If you are going to slow-mo things, then you have to slow-mo the penalty on Beto - or what could have been a penalty. Andersen has got his arms clearly round him, cupping his body, and he goes down and it is not given.
“If you want to slow-mo everything, you have got to slow-mo everything, as you can’t have it one for one and one for the other.
“It is minor contact, live time he does not give anything and when you slow it down it always looks worse on slow-mo - we all know that.”
Dyche added: "I'm a fan [of VAR] but we're all aware it needs tidying up. I thought it was getting tidied up but it seems to have stepped back a little bit. I remain a fan, but it is beginning to test my patience."
Reflecting on the performance of his side, Dyche said: “I thought we took the game on all night. I was really pleased with the performance level, particularly in the second half where we maintained it.
"We had a lot of the ball, created chances and didn’t score but a lot of good things.”
The two sides will now replay at Goodison Park the week after next as they bid to make the fourth round.
