Luis Suarez reunites with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami for 2024 season

Luis Suarez has reunited with Lionel Messi at MLS side Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 season, and will also link up again with fellow former Barcelona team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

The 36-year-old arrives in Florida as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Brazilian side Gremio.

“We are delighted to have a player of Luis’ quality and passion for the game join our club," said Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham in quotes published by the club website.

"He joins a squad that is inspiring the next generation and we look forward to seeing him take to the field with both former team-mates and young players from our academy."

Suarez had signed a two-year deal with Gremio last year, but the Uruguay international saw his contract ended a year early after being unable to travel the long distances involved due to an ongoing knee problem.

“I’m very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami. I can’t wait to get started, and I’m ready to work to make the dream of winning more titles with this great club a reality," added Suarez.

"I’m optimistic about what we can achieve together with our shared ambition. I will give my all to bring joy to these great fans I’ve heard so much about while I wear Inter Miami colours, and look forward to reuniting with great friends and players. I’m also eager to meet my new team-mates and coaches.”

Suarez is one of the most decorated players of the modern era after winning five La Liga titles, the Dutch Eredivisie, the UEFA Champions League and the Club World Cup.

He also tasted success at international level after winning the 2011 Copa America with Uruguay.

He also scored 82 goals in 133 appearances for Liverpool between January 2011 and July 2014 before moving to Barcelona.
