Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has revealed the pressure at the club ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash with Porto in Portugal and talked of his international future with France.
"When a team recruits [new players] at the start of the season, that affects a lot of things," he told RMC. "That is the problem with Chelsea.
"We have been trying to keep up with Manchester United and the pressure is difficult for the players.
"[Team manager] Jose Mourinho has supported us very well before we go to Porto on Wednesday evening."
Makelele said that his will to represent Les Bleus has not waned, but is unsure of whether he will be involved in the European Championships in Switzerland and Austria.
"As regards the France national team, I have had a discussion with Raymond Domenech," he divulged. "The desire to play in blue is always there.
"However, I do not know if I will continue until Euro 2008, assuming that we will qualify."
