The 32-year-old, who won has won an astonishing 152 international caps, allegedly hit her sister and her nephew near her home in Seattle.
The Seattle Times reported the news, as noted by our partners at Yahoo! Sports, with their report stating that officers were called to the home because of an assault and a noise disturbance.
They quote local police officer Mike Murray as saying: "There was a big party going on at her house. It was an out-of-control situation."
The report said that at some point during the party, an "intoxicated and upset" Solo allegedly assaulted her sister and her nephew, with Murray confirming: “There were visible injuries on them."
The goalkeeper is being held without bail in a local jail, on two charges of domestic violence assault in the fourth degree, according to the jail's inmate registry, where she is listed by her married name, Hope Amelia Stevens.
Representatives from US football and Solo's professional Seattle team, Reign FC, both said they are aware of the arrest but declined to immediately comment further on the situation.
Solo has a joint world record 71 international clean sheets and has won two Olympic gold medals with the US team.
Her marketable looks and outstanding talent has made her one of the most recognisable female athletes in American sport.
Yahoo! Sports note that she controversial married her boyfriend Jerramy Stevens in 2012, despite reports that Stevens had been arrested for assaulting her just hours before their wedding.
