Rob Page's spell as Wales head coach is now over, after the Football Association of Wales opted to end his tenure. Page led his country into two major tournaments - Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup - but a failure to qualify for Euro 2024 has ultimately proved to be costly. The 49-year-old initially took the role temporarily from Ryan Giggs, before landing the position permanently.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) have decided to part company with Rob Page as their men's national team head coach.
The 49-year-old's memorable tenure - which included leading his country to a first World Cup finals in 64 years at the 2022 edition - was ended by the FAW on Thursday morning.
Page oversaw a period of progress after initially being appointed on an interim basis in November 2020, before taking on the role permanently in September 2022.
FAW president Steve Williams said in a statement: “I am incredibly grateful for all that Rob has done in his role as Cymru men’s national team manager and I want to put on record my gratitude for taking Cymru to EURO 2020 and the FIFA World Cup.
“Rob’s passion for the country shone through in his visits to schools, clubs and communities across the breadth of Wales. I know Rob was incredibly proud of taking the World Cup squad announcement to his hometown of Tylorstown.”
FAW Chief Executive Officer Noel Mooney added: “On behalf of myself and the entire FAW, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rob for his commitment and dedication to his roles for the national teams.
“Under Rob Page’s leadership, our Cymru men’s team has achieved significant milestones and victories which have created many incredible memories for our nation, most notably our first World Cup in 64 years.”
“We remain focused on our FAW value of ‘excellence’ and look forward to the opportunities for our national teams and Welsh football.”
Page came under scrutiny after Wales were dumped out of the 2022 World Cup at the group stage, and for failing to qualify for Euro 2024.
The low point of that failed qualification campaign came in the form of a home defeat by Armenia, before losing on penalties to Poland in the play-off final.
A dismal 2024 continued in June, when Wales drew with the world's 198th-ranked team, Gibraltar, ahead of being thrashed 4-0 by Slovakia.
After initially being handed the role on a temporary basis, Page helped Wales win promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League and guided Wales into the knockout stages of Euro 2020, where they were beaten 4-0 by Denmark.
A play-off victory over Ukraine sealed a place at the 2022 World Cup, but they managed to gain just a solitary point in a 1-1 draw with the United States, ahead of defeats to Iran and England.
Wales will now start the next Nations League campaign without Page, which begins against Turkey on September 6, before starting their qualifying campaign for the next World Cup in March 2025.
