Bryson DeChambeau sensationally won the most recent major, the US Open just last week. But despite being ranked in the top 10 in the world, the American hasn’t done enough to secure a spot on the US team for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. Despite the disappointment of missing out, the American insists he will do everything to make sure he features in LA in 2028 instead.

DeChambeau admits missing out on Paris ‘hurts’ but turns focus to Olympics 2028

Bryson DeChambeau has recently forced his way back into the top 10 in the world rankings with a run of brilliant results culminating in victory in the US Open last week for his second ever major title.
But it didn’t come soon enough to ensure he was added to Team USA’s roster for the upcoming Olympics in Paris, with the four spots available instead going to world number one Scottie Scheffler, defending gold medallist Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa.
Golf returned to the Olympics in Rio in 2016, and while some top players opted to give the chance of gold a miss, by the time Tokyo came around nearly all the biggest names realised what an opportunity it was and duly did their best to gain selection.
It was always going to be a tough ask to represent the US in Paris this year, such is their strength in depth in the men’s game with only four spots available.
But DeChambeau could argue he is one of if not the most in-form player – and thus does feel slightly aggrieved to have missed out.

And to make matters worse for the two-time US Open winner, he was initially selected for Tokyo – only to contract Covid-19 just before the Olympics and have to miss out.
“It's funny because in 2020 I was on the team, I got Covid the week before, and I couldn't go to the Olympics. That was frustrating,” he said when he spoke to the media in Nashville ahead of his next tournament.
“I have always loved representing Team USA, whether it's been the world team amateur [Eisenhower Trophy], the Walker Cup, Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup. It's been some of the greatest moments of my life. Anytime you get a chance to represent your country, I'm all for it.
“This time around, it's disappointing, but I understand the decisions I made, and the way things have played out has not been necessarily perfectly according to plan.”
DeChambeau has missed out on valuable ranking points by opting to play in LIV golf tournaments, which don’t count towards his world ranking.
“I've done my best up until now to give myself a chance according to the OWGR [Official World Golf Rankings], but I realise and respect where the current situation of the game is, albeit it's frustrating and disappointing,” he said.
“Hopefully 2028 will be a little different situation, and it will make it that much sweeter.”
