Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood have been chosen to represent Team GB in the men's golf event at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. The event will be held at Le Golf National, a course not far from the French capital. Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, will make his Olympic debut, while Fleetwood will play in his second Games after representing Britain in Tokyo.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood will play for Great Britain in the golf event at Paris 2024.
Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, will make his Olympic Games bow, while Fleetwood will play in his second games after playing for Team GB in Tokyo in 2021.
The English pair will be aiming to follow in Justin Rose’s footsteps, after the 2013 US Open winner won gold at Rio 2016 as golf returned to the Olympics after 112 years.
The golf event will be held at Le Golf National, just outside of Paris, and the men’s event will run from August 1-4.
Fleetwood has had previous success on the French course, winning the Open de France in 2017. That year he also became the European No. 1.
He also played excellently at the 2018 Ryder Cup on the same course, as he won four points out of five to help Europe to victory against the United States.
Fleetwood has been playing some excellent golf this year, starting with victory in Dubai before finishing in joint-third at the Masters.
Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, was not at his best at the recent US Open, finishing 13-over at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina, and before that, he finished tied 22nd at the Masters.
His best finish this year came at the Players’ Championship back in March, as he finished fifth.
