Mika Kallio passed Alex de Angelis with a lap and a half to go to snatch victory in the 250cc Valencia Grand Prix, completing a brilliant rookie season for the Finn.

The 24-year-old Finn edged his KTM inside de Angelis' Aspar Aprilia and was unchallenged over the final three miles.
"I knew I had the pace to win," said Kallio. "I knew it was still possible to make better lap times.
"I was not so confident on my full tanks, but it got better and better as the fuel load got lower and I could push more and more.
"I caught Alex and thought ' I have to do it now' so I did. It's the best way to end this season."
Kallio made a bad start from pole position, dropping to fourth place as Jorge Lorenzo surged into the lead.
There was a shock in store though, as the world champion, who seemed set to disappear into the distance like he did in Australia, was unable to shake off the chasing pack, resulting in a nine-rider battle for the lead.
Lorenzo's pace was enough to keep his Fortuna Aprilia in front as the chasers seemed content to fight among themselves. It was de Angelis who made the best progress though.
The San Marinese rider climbed up from ninth at the end of lap one to fourth on lap six as Hector Barbera and Alvaro Bautista managed to shove each other miles wide at turn one.
That became third when he exploited a gap left by Kallio at turn eight on lap sevent, and second as he used his Aspar Aprilia's rocket-like engine to blast by Andrea Dovizioso's Scot Honda next time around.
His bike looked more stable than any other and the point was proved as he passed Lorenzo for the lead on lap ten at the same corner he had surprised Kallio at, and proceeded to pull out a two-second lead.
With the chance of a home win gone, Lorenzo suddenly appeared disinterested. He was instantly passed by Dovizioso, Kallio, Bautista, Alex Debon, Barbera and Julian Simon, falling back to a dismal eighth place.
Dovizioso was the next to be demoted as Kallio and Bautista came by, with the Spaniard soon establishing an advantage and making it a one-two for the Aspar Aprilia team.
As the pair reduced de Angelis' lead to 1.4 seconds, the front two looked set to add to the team's 1-2-3 finish in the earlier 125cc race.
But Bautista's race was to end on lap 22 as he lost his front end and crashed into the gravel at turn eight.
Kallio put the hammer down instantly and reduced de Angelis' lead to nothing with two laps to go, snatching the lead at the same place he had earlier been passed by his rival on the penultimate lap.
De Angelis had nothing left in reserve, allowing the Finn to take his second win of his rookie 250cc campaign by 0.371 seconds.
The battle for third became an intense scrap between Dovizioso and Debon, enjoying his fourth wildcard ride of the season on his Fortuna Aprilia.
It was eventually resolved in favour of the 31-year-old Spaniard, who took his first podium finish in a 107-race career that began nine years ago.
Barbera finished fifth on his Toth Aprilia, emerging unscathed from a clash with Marco Simoncelli that sent the Gilera man through the turn one gravel on lap nine and back to 14th.
Sixth was Simon with Lorenzo ending his double world title-winning season in an unconvincing seventh. Yuki Takahashi's Scot Honda, Tom Luthi's Caffe Latte Aprilia and Hiroshi Aoyama's KTM rounded out the top ten.
Further back, Simoncelli recovered from his gravely excursion to finish 11th and Irishman Eugene Laverty took his LCR Honda to 21st on what was potentially his last ride in the category.
