Former world champion Amber Rutter has been named in Team GB’s shooting team for the 2024 Paris Olympics just two months after giving birth to her first child. Rutter will bid for a first gold medal in her second Olympics after missing out on the Tokyo Games in 2021. The 26-year-old welcomed a son, Tommy, on April 25 and will compete in the skeet event in the French capital.

Amber Rutter will compete in her second Olympics after being named in Great Britain’s shooting team for the Games in Paris this summer.
The 26-year-old gave birth to her first child, Tommy, on April 25 and is “really excited” to have the chance to add an Olympic gold medal to her two world titles and four European Championship golds.
“To receive that call and have that confirmation that I've made the team for Paris 2024 is just an amazing feeling,” she told BBC Sport.
Rutter took part in the 2016 Rio Olympics using her maiden name of Hill but missed out on the Tokyo Games in 2021 after contracting Covid-19 in the build-up.
She will compete in the skeet event in Paris while her family remain in the UK.
“I just know for performance, it's just not the right thing, because as soon as Tommy cries my mind is completely on him, and just literally looking after anything he needs,” added Rutter.
“So we've made the decision for him not to be there, but we're going to have a lot of celebrations and everything when I get back.”
Alongside Rutter, former world champion Seonaid McIntosh will go for gold in the mixed team air rifle with Michael Bargeron, while Matthew Coward-Holley, Nathan Hales and Lucy Hall round out the squad.
Team GB chef de mission Mark England said: “We are thrilled to have such an impressive team of shooters representing Team GB in Paris this summer. It is brilliant to have Matt, Seonaid and Amber with us for their second Olympic Games, and we welcome Mike, Nathan and Lucy to Team GB, all of whom bring a tremendous wealth of quality into this squad.
“A special congratulations to Amber who became a mother just a few months ago on her selection to the team.
“This group of athletes are truly remarkable, both in and out of competition, and we have great confidence they can demonstrate their quality once again in Paris.”
