Stoch wins in Germany

The Pole triumphed thanks largely to a whopping first jump of 140.5 metres and a points total of 279.3.

Gregor Schlierenzauer, who won last week in Hinzenbach in his homeland of Austria, was second with a best jump of 132m and a points total of 254.1.

The Czech Republic’s Roman Koudelka had led qualifying but came third with a best jump of 131m and a total of 251.4.

Stoch's victory in the 11th and final event of the summer season saw him finish second in the overall standings behind Thomas Morgenstern who won the opening five rounds.

Tom Hilde was third ahead of Schlierenzauer who competed in only five rounds.
