Walden and Doherty lose

Ricky Walden and Ken Doherty were both comprehensively beaten in the qualifying round of the Shanghai Masters in the morning session.

World number 21 Ricky Walden could only manage a solitary frame as “The Baby-Faced Assassin” Fergal O’Brien ran away with the match, winning by five frames to one.
Former Snooker World Champion and current World number 25 Ken Doherty was also dispatched with relative ease as he lost 5-2 to 40-year-old Anthony Hamilton. Hamilton will now play Stephen Maguire at the Shanghai Masters.
Joe Perry has also failed to make the upcoming tournament after a comprehensive defeat at the hands of James Wattana. The World number 24 lost 5-1.
Marco Fu was also dumped out in the qualifying rounds after losing to Cheltenham-born starlet Jack Lisowski. The man nicknamed Hong Kong Fuey, currently the World number 27, lost by five frames to one.
2011 Australian Goldfields Open Champion Stuart Bingham also qualified for the Shanghai Masters after beating Tom Ford 5-1. The World number 12, Bingham, will now play Judd Trump in the first round of the event.
