The No.4 seed will now meet No.7 seed Casper Ruud in the last four on Friday.

The Zverev nerves jangle as he follows up a tight opening point with a fifth double fault of the match to trail at 0-30.

De Minaur needs to hang tough but lashes long off the backhand and ends up being beaten up in the next rally with the German standing tall to make 30-30.

De Minaur’s defence means the nervy German can’t execute a cheap winner to ease the pressure and a wonderful, lob tees up set point.

Zverev gets a touch of luck when a fizzed Demon forehand clips the tape, allowing him to take charge and eventually lash down a bounce smash to save it.

The nerves jangle away for the No.4 seed and he gets a time violation, but he finally plays his get-out-of-jail-free card to take us into a breaker.

De Minaur is beaten by a lob, swishes his racquet at thin air, but it so fast that’s still able to get back and slice a recovery shot that keeps him in a rally that he ultimately wins.

The crowd love it and cheer his name.

It’s a similar thriller in what proves to be the final point of the match and again his defence ensures he prevails leading to fist pumping galore.

The momentum is his but can he make it translate to the scoreboard.
