That’s a disaster for Stefanos and it could be curtains.
He’s cruising at 30-0 but a double fault seems to unhinge him and Alcaraz presses with a barrage of forehands into his opponent’s right wing to force the error.
A great forehand on the run with height and depth then catches Stef cold and he capitulates on BP with another double fault.

‘There’s a little bit of spice out there,’ chuckles Chris Bradnam on Eurosport Comms.
It follows a delightful exchange at the net that ends with Stef punching down a smash that clips Carlitos on the heel.
The Spaniard turns and gives the Greek a steely gaze but the No.9 seed did raise his racquet in apology. Given that it happened within the context of that 'grunt complaint' it only adds to the suggestion of some aggro.
Tsitsipas then backs up a big serve and brutal forehand with a feather touch at the net to once again push the board.

ALCARAZ 6-3 7-6 2-2 TSITSIPAS
The chair umpire interjects out of the blue with a warning for Tsitsipas for coaching from the other end. It’s been happening all match so it’s rather surprising it’s taken so long.
It actually leads to the Greek snaring a super point at the net, but it’s all in isolation as Alcaraz comfortably wraps up a game to 15 to level.

If Tsitsipas is to mount any sort of sensational comeback tonight perhaps this will be the starting point.
It’s perhaps unlikely, but a razor-sharp service game from the Greek involves two excellent winners and he keeps his nose in front with a morale-boosting clean hold.

SET! - ALCARAZ 6-3 7-6 TSITSIPAS
Well, that complaint from Tsitsipas has made things a little bit spicy.
The Spaniard ensures he grunts on even the most routine of forehands now before silently punching the air when he seals the breaker 7-3.

ALCARAZ 6-3 6-5 TSITSIPAS
It’s the business end of a big set in the quarter final of a major but you wouldn’t quite know it looking at Carlitos.
He offers the crowd a cheeky grin when he hammers away an overhead to make 15-15 at the third time of asking after a couple of tentative attempts were lobbed back by Stef.
It’s the type of moment that makes him so endearing; well, that and his elite level of tennis.
There’s no sign of any pressure in his hitting as he surges to a game to 15 to guarantee himself the minimum of a tie break.

ALCARAZ 6-3 5-5 TSITSIPAS
Big serve, hefty forehand, deft volley. It’s a tool kit with a combination that’s hard to stop if Stef can produce it often enough.
It works a couple of times here as he keeps Carlitos at arm’s length to fizz a forehand down the line and level at five apiece.

The Alcaraz lull continues and Tsitsipas is able to finally make the impact he has been craving on the return.
A lovely rally at 15-30 seems to be going Alcaraz’s way but the Spaniard hammers a drive volley back into the path of the Greek who despatches a raking pass to earn two break points.
Carlitos saves one when he ends a lung-busting rally with a strong block volley at the net, but he’s unlocked on the second when Stef nails a big return.
