Not many Grand Slam matches go by without Novak Djokovic breaking another record, and he accomplished one more after overcoming Francisco Cerundolo in five epic sets in their French Open fourth-round clash. Djokovic surpassed another legend and one of his great rivals, Roger Federer, in an impressive tally as he continued his inspired run at Roland-Garros despite shaking off an injury.

'Don't know what will happen' - Djokovic admits knee injury could force him out of French Open

Novak Djokovic has given his reaction to moving past fellow tennis great Roger Federer for yet another record in his illustrious career after reaching the fourth round of the French Open.
The 37-year-old had to give absolutely everything on Court Philippe-Chatrier as he eventually overcame the doughty 23rd seed Francisco Cerundolo in his second successive marathon match at Roland-Garros.
What made Djokovic's triumph all the more astonishing was the fact that he looked down and out at times after he suffered a knee injury in the early stages of the epic encounter.
The top seed somehow managed to shake off his injury and complete another famous victory on the red dirt in Paris, before he was left to bask in his achievement in his post-match press conference.
Speaking to Serbian media at the end of his press time, Djokovic was quoted reacting to the fact that he had usurped Federer with 370 Grand Slam match wins.
“It’s my first record... today!” Djokovic was quoted by reporter Sasa Ozmo as saying.
“It’s always nice to hear that I’ve broken another record. I started writing my own history a long time ago, I am still focusing on that, and I was always willing to be transparent about my desire to chase new records.
"I am glad that I’ve achieved another one. Let’s get some more."
Djokovic is now three wins away from clinching a record-extending 25th Grand Slam singles title, and he was again clear about what it has taken for him to still be relentlessly pressing on with his goals.

'It's amazing he can still pull this off' - McEnroe reacts to Djokovic's victory

"It’s all about the attitude – do I want something, what’s the purpose, what are the goals, do I really want this, or someone else wants it, and I am just following along… these are the questions swirling around my head more frequently than before.
"But these kinds of moments, these matches are what my dreams are made of, they inspire me: five sets with 10-15 years younger opponents in the greatest stadiums in the world, and me showing that I still have what it takes, that I am still able to physically outlast them.
"Those are the kinds of things that get me going. When I feel that I can’t do that any more, that will be the time to call it a day. But I am in the quarter-finals once again, having played nine hours of tennis in two matches. I don’t wish to stop.”
