Coco Gauff earned her first Grand Slam doubles title at the third time of asking as she and Katerina Siniakova won the women's doubles at the French Open. The fifth seeds beat Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani, the 11th seeds, 7-6(5) 6-3 on Court Philippe-Chatrier in one hour and 47 minutes. Gauff had previously been in the US Open final in 2021 and Roland-Garros in 2022, losing both times.

‘Third time’s a charm’ – Gauff on winning French Open with ‘last-minute’ partner Siniakova

Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova won the women’s doubles title at the French Open with a straight-sets victory over Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini.
The fifth seeds came through 7-6(5) 6-3 in the final on Court Philippe-Chatrier in one hour and 47 minutes.
Gauff, the world No. 4 in singles, was playing in her third doubles final following defeats at Roland-Garros in 2022 and the US Open in 2021, and she made it third time lucky in Paris alongside her Czech partner Siniakova, who claimed a third doubles title at the French Open and her eighth Grand Slam crown.
“Third time’s a charm,” Gauff said.
"Thank you, Katerina, for playing with me. We decided two days before the tournament to play together.
“Thank you to the fans. I know 11.30 [on a] Sunday morning is early for most people. It’s early for me.”
It was a second final defeat in as many days for the Italian Paolini on the opposite side of the net, after the 12th seed in the singles draw was brushed aside 6-2 6-1 by Iga Swiatek on Saturday.
Paolini and Errani were the 11th seeds in the women’s doubles draw, with the former making a doubles final debut.
“The last two weeks were very nice, very emotional,” Paolini said. “I have a lot of memories. I can’t wait to be back.”
Errani was broken twice in the first set, as Gauff and Siniakova stole a tight opener when Errani’s volley at the net flew long.
The American and Czech pair raced into a 4-1 lead in the second, with Paolini 0-30 down on her serve.
The Italians fought back to 4-3, but Errani was broken again and their momentum was lost as Gauff and Siniakova cruised to victory.

‘Maybe I will play Wimbledon now’, says Gauff

The American was asked about whether she would play in the doubles event at Wimbledon amidst a busy schedule that includes a transition from clay to grass, and then back to clay for the Olympic Games in Paris.
“I don't really know,” the 20-year-old said.
“It's a feeling thing. Initially I thought this year, if everything went perfect, I was just going to play Roland-Garros and not play Wimbledon, because I was going to play with an American who I would play [in] the Olympics [with, but maybe I will play Wimbledon now.”
