SWIATEK 6-0 5-2 VONDROUSOVA
There’s certainly been a drop-off away from nigh-on-perfection from the World No.1 in this set.
Vondrousova has also tried to step it up and she threatens again with a stunning inside-in forehand down the line right to the corner.
Swiatek plants down a clutch serve in response and the Czech fades from there, twice dragging tame strikes into the net to allow the four-time major winner to hold to 30.

SWIATEK 6-0 4-2 VONDROUSOVA
There’s a murmur of surprise in the crowd as Iga twice misfires into the net to allow Marketa the edge from 15-30 down.
For once, the Czech makes it count as she follows up a belting backhand with a stun volley at the net.
No more baked goods today, it seems.

Depth, spin, power – it’s the winning combination time and time again as the Clay Queen takes her tally to 24 winners with a crushing hold to 15.

BREAK! – SWIATEK 6-0 3-1 VONDROUSOVA
From defence into attack – normal service resumes for Swiatek!
The Pole lands a booming forehand down the line to press at 15-30 and then sees a forehand under pressure from Marketa drift just out.
It’s another two break points, but she only needs one as the Czech skews a horrible backhand into the tramlines to drop serve again.

Buoyed by her belated appearance on the board, Marketa comes out all guns blazing as she jumps all over three timid second serves to earn break point with another rasping return winner.
The Czech has a half chance to convert with a crosscourt pass on the run, but Iga guides a tricky volley home at the net to reach deuce.

SWIATEK 6-0 1-0 VONDROUSOVA
New set, same story.
Swiatek is so business-like both in the manner she holds herself and walks as well as with the way she approaches almost every shot meticulously.
Vondrousova is on Plan P by now but nothing is working as the Pole opens Set 2 with a hold to 15.

SET! – SWIATEK 6-0 VONDROUSOVA
It’s three bagels in a row for the World No.1.
Vondrousova throws in the drop shot to try and change-up her continual struggles in the baseline exchanges, but Iga swoops forward to jab away a backhand in unorthodox fashion.
The No.5 seed then double faults to cough up set point and despite some excellent defence she is eventually undone and Iga takes the opener in just 29 minutes.

BREAK! – SWIATEK 2-0 VONDROUSOVA
It’s early but it already looking like a bit of a clinic.
The sharp return rushes Marketa time and time again and wonderful deep angle on a raking backhand tees up a smash for two break points.
The Pole only needs one as another uncomfortably deep strike sees the Czech balloon the ball way off court.
