BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 4-5 PAOLINI
It’s been an unpredictable match from Rybakina – even by her standards.
She can often switch from the purple patches that are sublime to the downright ugly.
This game is firmly in the latter category. The No.4 seed follows up her 10th ace of the match with a sudden bout of jitters, lashing errors off both wings and gifting her opponent the break at a massive point in the match.
Paolini will now serve for a place in the last four.

RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 4-4 PAOLINI
Pressure … What pressure?
That’s the message from Jasmine as she rakes a sumptuous forehand winner down the line and then has Rybakina in a muddle with a flurry of acute angles before luring the block volley long off a short-ball pick-up to tie the set with a very welcome hold to love.

RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 4-3 PAOLINI
Elena is firmly in the box seat here.
Not only done she have the scoreboard advantage, but that match-altering weapon of a serve is beginning to fire on all cylinders.
The No.4 seed motors through a rampant clean hold and the pressure reverts right back on to Jasmine’s shoulders.

RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 3-3 PAOLINI
Paolini stares down the barrel as some weak second serves get the treatment and she’s made to toil at deuce.
The Italian is made to hang around again but this time she refuses to offer up the chance of a break and a supreme drop shot paves the path for her to level and keep her dream alive.

RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 3-2 PAOLINI
We’ve been witnessing a serious break-a-thon but Rybakina finally that first serve and flashes a pair of aces to lay down a winning hand, take the game to 15 and take charge on the board.

BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 2-2 PAOLINI
On Eurosport Comms Durie and Bradnam discuss whether Paolini should serve and play relentlessly to the misfiring Rybakina forehand.
The Kazakhstani backs up their point when she nails a beauty of a backhand down the line and then tees up break point with a delicate crosscourt pick up off that more solid wing.
Paolini scraps to deuce with a clutch serve but Elena just won’t let her squirm out of dodge in what turns into a war of attrition. The No.12 seed survives a second break point but is undone on the third as Rybakina reaches up to a moon ball and lashes a forehand winner down the line.

BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 1-2 PAOLINI
This is so unpredictable.
Rybakina ghosts into the net to pop away a superbly controlled volley but loses her way from 30-30 with another forehand misfire coughing up an umpteenth break.

BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 1-1 PAOLINI
It is perhaps an obvious statement given her size and power, but the match is very much on Rybakina’s racquet.
She’s almost fighting herself at times, but the ‘good twin’ wins out this time with a series of winners helping her to break right back.
If the World Number Four can find some level of consistency just for a few games, you would imagine she will pull clear, but you wouldn't bet on it right now.

BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 0-1 PAOLINI
Talk about a let down from Rybakina’s point of view.
The No.4 seed has all of the momentum but opens the decider with three awful errors to handover triple break point.
A seventh ace saves one before Paolini almost blows a massive opportunity with a forecourt pass that slams into the net.
The Italian remains calm on her last chance, however, and lures an error on an attempt down the line to put that Set 2 setback behind her for now.

SET! - RYBAKINA 2-6 6-4 PAOLINI
Rybakina’s back in business and we are heading to a decider!
Elena’s power game is making its mark now as she fires through a visibly tight Jasmine from 30-0 down, taking more care with her heavy strikes to reel off four points in a row and break for the set.

RYBAKINA 2-6 5-4 PAOLINI
Paolini thrills the fans on Chatrier once again with some aggressive play to thunder a forehand winner down the line and press at 30-30.
Sadly for her, it feels like the mini battles are currently going the way of Elena and the Kazakhstani survives a backhand long to edge the hold and crank up the temperature with the scoreboard pressure.

BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 4-4 PAOLINI
The Italian earns game point but unravels a touch to suddenly offer up a break back opportunity.
She has a little smile to herself before nailing a clutch serve to reset again at deuce, but Rybakina is now deploying Plan C by trying to play more solid and waiting for her power to get the short ball or an error.
It pays off on this occasion as Jasmine can’t get over a major hurdle and the former Wimbledon champion bites back to level the set.

BREAK! - RYBAKINA 2-6 3-4 PAOLINI
Paolini throws extra heft into some of her groundstrokes on what feels like a key point at 30-30 on the Rybakina serve.
The Italian goes toe-to-toe in an enthralling baseline exchange and rushes the No.4 seed into a backhand down the line that buries into the net.
Jasmine lets out a roar of euphoria and is soon pumping her fist in a more muted joy when Elena leaks her 31st unforced of the match.

RYBAKINA 2-6 3-3 PAOLINI
Jasmine is in real need a of settler – and she gets one!
Rybakina offers up a couple of gifts but finds her power from 40-0. The Italian digs deep to hang tough in the rallies and then reaches to her left to clip the outside edge of the chalk with a wonderful back up the line.
14:15
RYBAKINA 2-6 3-2 PAOLINI
The pendulum has swung here and it’s not a subtle shift.
On Eurosport Comms Jo Durie wonder if there’s a bit of panic creeping into the Italian’s game as she begins to miss routine groundstrokes.
Durie also notes an injection of pace in Rybakina’s hitting which is a point rubber-stamped when the No.4 seed brushes a crosscourt backhand winner away to close out a hold to 15 and seize the scoreboard advantage.
