GAME, SET AND MATCH! – PAOLINI 6-3 6-1 ANDREEVA
Jasmine Paolini’s impressive 2024 has just turned spectacular.
The Italian was just too solid for an error-strewn Andreeva and booked her place in a maiden Grand Slam final by breaking to love to clinch a routine success in just one hour and 13 minutes.
The 28-year-old is now guaranteed to rise to a career-high seven in the world and will take on the ultimate task in women’s tennis right now; Iga Swiatek on the clay of Paris in the final on Saturday.

Andreeva was in tears as she walked to her chair after dropping her fourth game in a row, but she channels the whirl of emotions in the right way to sizzle a forehand down the line and set about halting her opponent’s charge.
It's a good effort from the teenager but Paolini just keeps coming up with the answers, conjuring up a first ace at 15-30 and then producing a majestic drops-hot/crosscourt volley combo to wipe out break point.
The No.12 seed leans all over her excellent defence from deuce and outlasts Andreeva to consolidate and move to within a game of the final.

BREAK! – PAOLINI 6-3 4-1 ANDREEVA
Paolini again shows she’s quite happy to take on a high ball and fires a rocket of a crosscourt forehand as she goes for the jugular.
Andreeva can’t deal with it and skews another backhand off the island to hand over two more break points before a 27th unforced error hands the Italian the double break.

The problem for Mirra is that some of the excellent points she constructs are too few and far between.
She resists a lengthy examination at 30-15 and drills a super backhand up the line to crank up some heat.
Paolini lands a clutch serve but should still have work to do, but the 17-year-old lets her consolidate easily from there with a backhand way wide.

BREAK! – PAOLINI 6-3 2-1 ANDREEVA
There’s a muted applause for Paolini’s break as it’s more to do with an error-strewn game from her opponent.
The 17-year-old leaves herself with too much to do when she double faults for 0-40 and misjudges the bounce of a loopy forehand return on the third of them to drag a backhand into the net.

PAOLINI 6-3 1-1 ANDREEVA
Paolini reaches high into the air to once again pummel away a winner and change the narrative from 15-30 down.
Andreeva should make a routine return - but doesn't - and gets told to ‘find your intensity’ by coach Martinez.
The advice doesn't hit home as she responds by fizzing another return long and Jasmine edges on to the board.

It’s worth pointing out that Andreeva is still very much on the first part of a learning curve.
The 17-year-old is the first player since GB’s Emma Raducanu to reach her first tour-level semi final at a major and the youngest since the legendary Martina Hingis way back in 1997.
She’s got some work to do here if she’s to go one further and after attempting reset off court during a comfort break, the World No.38 sizzles a backhand down the line to open Set 2 with a hold to 30.

SET! – PAOLINI 6-3 ANDREEVA
Jasmine nails a beauty of a forehand winner n the rise to open and never looks back as she serves out a 41-minute opener to 15.
The teenager is going to have to find a few more gears if she's to stop Paolini from becoming the first Italian woman since 'The Golden Generation' of Francesca Schiavone, Flavia Pennetta, Sara Errani and Vinci to make a Grand Slam final.

PAOLINI 5-3 ANDREEVA
Andreeva resists from 30-30 and poses the serve-out question.
It still feels like both players are searching for their best tennis, but Paolini has been more solid so far.

PAOLINI 5-2 ANDREEVA
Jasmine conjures up a smart lob and seems in control as she eases 40-0 up, but she’s then victim to a sudden purple patch from the teen, who dictates and dominates four points in a row before lashing away a backhand down the line to tee up break back point.
The run of consistency ends at the worst possible moment for the World No.38 as she loops long under no pressure and the No.12 seed is able to dodge a second BP with a delightful drop shot.
It’s a tough face-off at deuce but the Italian produces a magical inside-in forehand and ducks out of a precarious situation when the youngster belts a frustrated return long.
Andreeva may quite rightly feel agitated; she's 0/5 on break points so far.
16:37
PAOLINI 4-2 ANDREEVA
‘Come on,’ Mirra yells towards Martinez as she slaps a second serve ace down the T.
It concludes another topsy-turvy hold, but she almost undid her good work via a couple of droppers for 40-15 by leaking more basic errors to give her opponent a half chance at deuce.

PAOLINI 4-1 ANDREEVA
‘Just like that,’ says Mirra’s coach Conchita Martinez as her protegee works her way towards two break back points.
Paolini feels it’s more to do with her own loose play and tightens up, defending well in the rallies and surviving to deuce when Andreeva goes big on a return down the line but get’s it very wrong.
The Italian gets a huge slice of fortune on a third when her attempt hits the net cord, has a think about it, and then bobbles over.
It’s a gift horse she doesn’t look in the mouth as more persistence in the rally ends with Andreeva snatching a backhand into the net to chalk up an 11th unforced error of the set.

BREAK! – PAOLINI 3-1 ANDREEVA
It’s a shaky game from Andreeva and it costs her the first break of the match.
The World No.38 miscues off both wings to leave herself playing catch-up and Paolini senses the edginess in her opponent, maintaining routine rally balls on break point to get the result she was after when Mirra drills into the net.

PAOLINI 2-1 ANDREEVA
Jasmine delivers a dynamite crosscourt forehand to help avert an early hiccup at 0-30 and then survives a bad return miss into the net on a timid second serve at 30-30.
The Italian dominates with the forehand again from there and a heavyweight strike down the line forces the block error to keep her on track early doors.
16:18
PAOLINI 1-1 ANDREEVA
It’s already becoming clear that Andreeva has the heavier weight of shot and she plays some assured tennis, dictating nicely to follow suit with a game to 15.
The teenager’s backhand down the line is one to look out for and she’s already unleashed one that clipped the baseline here to give Jasmine a taste of what might lie ahead.
16:14
PAOLINI 1-0 ANDREEVA
That’s a welcome settler for the No.12 seed.
Andreeva has a chance to test any early nerves at 30-15 but follows up a lovely backhand down the line with a prod long at the net.
The 17-year-old then fires a forehand well wide and the Italian holds to 15.
