Dan Evans was left to rue the level of officiating in his French Open first-round defeat to Holger Rune. The 34-year-old became irritated at how long it took to decide on a mark call, which he felt was responsible in helping to shift the momentum in Rune's favour. Evans has repeatedly spoken out against umpires and follows on from an incident against Fabio Fognini at the Italian Open.

'Do your job!' - Evans rages at umpire during Roland-Garros defeat to Rune

Dan Evans launched a scathing assessment of the Roland-Garros umpires after his straight-sets defeat to Holger Rune on Tuesday.
The Brit bowed out of the French Open following a 4-6 4-6 4-6 defeat to the Dane, but launched a stinging attack on the level of officiating which, he believed, cut off a potential comeback in the third set.
Evans was leading 4-2 in the third set before the man in the chair, Jaume Campistol, came down to review a mark in the clay. The decision went in the Brit's favour, but the delay resulted in him losing his serve and subsequently, the match.
"I'm fed up with the umpires, flat full stop," Evans told the media afterwards.
"I'm waiting to serve. It's freezing on the court. The match was flowing great and then just stopped in the middle.
"That's not the reason I lost and that's just part of the issue, part of the problem, but he'll be back in work again tomorrow.

Evans shows 'exquisite' touch at the net to save break point against Rune

"On the whole, the umpiring is good. The clay is a difficult surface. But definitely having a conversation on somebody else's serve, you don't see it in any other sport.
"In rugby, they get 10 metres or whatever, squash you're not allowed, it's no talking. We just sit there and have a conversation. We've seen many cases of it."
Evans has previously spoken out about the umpire issue after Mohamed Lahyani looked to have checked the wrong mark during a match against Fabio Fognini in Rome - a decision that went in the Italian's favour.
"I actually got fined in Rome for my language. I made a point of looking at my prize money receipt and I was fined," Evans added.
The Roland-Garros journey may be over for Evans, but Rune can look forward to a second-round clash against Flavio Cobolli.
Cobolli beat the Serbian Hamad Medjedovic in four sets with a 6-2 6-3 6(2)-7 6-3 win on Tuesday.
